Product Overview


The dock crane is a heavy-duty lifting and handling equipment specifically designed for port terminals, wharves, and container yards. Classification


By Cargo Type: Container dock crane (Quay Crane, RTG Crane), bulk dock crane (Grab Bucket Crane), general cargo dock crane, and container gantry crane.

Applications


Container Terminals: Loading and unloading containers between ships and shore, stacking and transferring containers in yards (mainly using quay cranes, RTG cranes, and gantry cranes).

Bulk Cargo Terminals: Handling bulk goods such as coal, grain, ore, and cement, using grab bucket dock cranes for efficient loading and unloading.

General Cargo Terminals: Lifting and transferring general cargo (such as steel, machinery, and equipment) between ships, trucks, and warehouses.

Working Principle


Dock cranes operate through the coordinated work of power systems, transmission mechanisms, lifting mechanisms, and control systems, tailored to port handling scenarios:

Power Supply: Most dock cranes are powered by 3-phase AC power (380V/440V) from the port power grid; some mobile models are equipped with diesel generators for emergency or outdoor operations.

Lifting Movement: The power system drives the hoisting winch (equipped with high-strength steel wire ropes and hooks) to wind or unwind, realizing vertical lifting and lowering of cargo. The lifting speed is adjustable according to cargo weight to ensure stable handling.

Slewing & Luffing: The slewing mechanism (slewing bearing + reduction gearbox) drives the crane boom or trolley to rotate 360° (or within a fixed range), enabling omnidirectional handling; the luffing cylinder adjusts the boom angle to change the working radius, adapting to different ship positions and cargo stacking needs.

Traversal Movement (Mobile Models): Rubber-tired or rail-mounted dock cranes rely on the traversal mechanism to move along the wharf or yard, expanding the operation range and improving handling flexibility.

Safety & Control: The intelligent control system integrates overload protection, anti-sway control, wind speed monitoring, emergency stop, and remote monitoring functions. It can automatically adjust operation parameters according to environmental conditions (such as wind speed) to ensure the safety of personnel, equipment, and cargo.
